Molise 21/22 - 05 - 2014
On May 21st and 22nd the Castelli Book Club met in Molise, at Laura's family house in Pescolanciano. Some of the members slept at hotel La Cona, while some others were Laura's guests. This month it was not just the book we discussed, as the agenda included a private screening of the movie "Philomena", inspired by Martin Sixsmith's "The Lost child of Philomena Lee". Watching the movie after reading the book enabled us to have a full understanding of both, and to appreciate the difference, which was considerable. Later we took advantage of the fantastic weather (warm and sunny) to go sightseeing and visit a few ancient sites in the Isernia province. We all enjoyed this experience so much that we will probably make it a yearly tradition, since we became addicted to the "lovely feeling of friendship and sisterhood" (quoting Jill's nice words) we were so lucky to share. Please check our photos and summaries out through the links below. |

read some of the comments we received from members: from JILL - I want to add my very heartfelt thanks to you for those wonderful two days spent in Molise. Such a lot of laughter, so many interesting places to see under the sunshine and blue sky, and above all such a lovely feeling of friendship and sisterhood as we lived, ate and slept (?) together for those two days. I miss you all! Laura, you can't have given us a better time with such variety of beauty all around us. I LOVE MOLISE! from MARGARET - Thank you so much for the really lovely "weekend" we had with you. It was just perfect - couldn't have been better (...) I don't have time to write more just now, but I wanted you to get my appreciation for all your hospitality right away... Lots of love.
from FRANCOISE - Thanks again to Laura for a superb, unforgettable book club. Love to all. from TATIANA - Thank you again for a truly wonderful couple of days. I had a great time as we all did, and it was entirely thanks to you (...) In my mind it was already going to be a tradition! This was just too wonderful not to do again... and again... so I'm glad you think so, too :) from MARGIE - Everyone else has been quick in appreciating so I am sorry to get in so late!! Not because I didn’t have a great time...because I did. It was really wonderful. You did a great job of planning and of course also of cooking ...everything was delicious (...) Yes I’m afraid you are now committed to a yearly event! from LAURA - I am receiving your individual e-mails thanking me for the hospitality, but it's me who should thank you all for coming to Molise, it was a heartwarming experience !! Let's make it a tradition as long as I am staying here ... and even afterwards, this house is available to all of you. |
